When it comes to linen in the healthcare industry, ‘clean’ is not good enough. Laundry and linen that come into a healthcare facility need to meet a higher standard. They must be hygienically clean.
Over time, Signature has developed an industry-leading process in producing hygienically clean linen. The Healthcare Laundry Accreditation Council defines “hygienically clean” as “have been treated to a point where the biological contaminants (bioburden) have been removed and the item can be used without fear or risk of being a source of contamination in a healthcare use.” We use several methods to ensure bioburdens are removed from your textiles. These include:
- • Using dilution and mechanical action to loosen bioburdens from textiles
- • Heating water temperatures in excess of 160ºF, or using chemical formulations that allow for hygienically cleaning linen at low temperatures
- • Designing and using effective wash formulas
- • Increasing pH levels
- • Oxidizing to deactivate bioburdens
- • Using chemical sanitizers
- • Drying and ironing at temperatures greater than 180ºF
